Apple Filed A Patent Application for Self-Driving Electric Cars

The American technology giant Apple has filed patent applications for technology for a self-driving car.

Some time ago, Apple’s plans to manufacture an electric car with the Hyundai Group, Kia and Nissan, but they collapsed. But that does not mean that the American technology company is giving up its attempts to create an electric car. Now they have applied for a vehicle patent, reports the Motor Authority. The patents must include smart interior lighting.

The patent is described as a zone-based lighting system that automatically illuminates parts of the interior, if necessary. Cameras and sensors must determine which lights are to be switched on. The sensors should automatically turn on or off specific lights, or a series of spotlights.

Alternatively, a camera can detect that one of the passengers in the self-driving car, for example, takes out a book or newspaper, and then automatically turns on the reading lamp. If a person falls asleep, the cameras can see that the eyes are closed. It turns off the lights, and then turns on the spotlights to wake the person as the car approaches the destination.

And no, Siri will of course be on hand with “Hey Siri”.

The patent is one of several that Apple has filed for car technology. Other examples are a system that cracks in the box, sensor enclosures, and a holographic heads-up display. Rumors that the American technology giant has started working on a self-driving electric car have started circulating again.
