Armenian Second is Suspended and Five Clubs are Disqualified

The Armenian Football Federation suspended the country’s second division and disqualified five teams after receiving “indisputable evidence” of match-fixing.

According Armania media 45 people, including club owners, coaches and players, were banned from football forever. Another 13 individuals were removed for different periods due to involvement in the frame scheme.

Lokomotiv Yerevan, runner-up for the second, Aragats, Torpedo Yerevan, Masis and FC Yerevan were the disqualified teams. All of them had suspicious results, such as games that ended in 12 to 0, 8 to 1, 9 to 2, 7 to 0, 8 to 0 and 8 to 2.

These decisions were made after the FFA received indisputable evidence from international bodies and security agencies. All this evidence will be sent to the Armenian authorities – said Armen Melikbekyan, president of the Armenian Football Federation.
