Eivor, the main character of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, traveled to England in search of a new home. He did it together with the rest of the members of the Clan del Cuervo, a complicated journey full of obstacles along the way. If you have not played the title, it is best not to continue reading, because we are going to describe one of the enigmas of the video game.

We know that Eivor lived in England for much of his life, but we also know that his destiny was far from these lands. In modern times, Layla discovers his tomb in Massachusetts, United States, a place that in the 9th century AD. it was still known as Vinland, precisely when the Icelandic explorer Leif Eriksson visited these lands around the year 1,000.

In Ubisoft’s production, the warrior (or the warrior, depending on the gender you choose), comes into contact with the natives when he arrives in this territory. At the moment, Ubisoft has not developed the reasons why Eivor died in the United States, although it seems that he emigrated when the unification of England was completed under the reign of Aethelstan, sovereign of Wessex, in the year 927.

There remains a broken link in this story, a clearer connection between England’s Eivor and the one who ends his days in Vinland. In an interview with Axios Gaming, Narrative Director Darby McDevitt mentioned this question: “We have concrete ideas and more surprises in the works, as well as some questions that remain to be answered.” On the matter of the tomb, which was never fully explained, McDevitt acknowledged that “this is naturally an issue” that has been left up in the air. “We will see”.

The truth is that at the end of the year Ubisoft will capture the end of Eivor’s story in an epilogue, which will come out as free DLC. Maybe it’s time we unravel all this mystery (if it is a mystery at all).

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series S, PC, and Google Stadia. The game has continued to develop its plot over these almost two years, both through new free quests and events and through the three paid expansions (The Wrath of the Druids, The Siege of Paris and The Dawn of Ragnarök).
