Audi Eyes ‘Very Significant’ Role in China Electric Car Market

German carmaker Audi is hoping to catch up when it comes to improving its share of the electric car market in China.
“We continue to take a positive view of the Chinese market,” Audi boss Markus Duesmann said on Tuesday on the sidelines of the international car show Auto Shanghai.
Electric cars already accounted for 25% of sales in the Chinese car market. However, Audi still sells hardly any vehicles in this segment and has a small market share.
According to Duesmann, Audi wants to significantly expand its range of vehicles. Ten all-electric models are planned for the next three years, he said.
“This will significantly improve our position,” said Duesmann. Audi has the ambition to play a “very significant role” in the premium electric car segment.
