Amerika’da polis şiddeti, protesto eylemleri Washington ve New York gibi büyük kentlerdeki yürüyüşlerde protesto edildi.

Irkçılık karşıtı eylemlerin en büyüğü başkent Washington’da gerçekleşti. Cumartesi sabahı Beyaz Saray yakınlarındaki Özgürlük Meydanı’nda toplanan binlerce kişi Kongre binasına yürüdü.

Washington’daki protesto yürüyüşüne polis şiddetinde ölen ve hepsi siyah olan Michael Brown, Eric Garner, Tamir Rice ve Trayvon Martin’in yakınları da katıldı.

Amerika genelinde her gün protesto gösterilere neden olan son olayda da hayatını kaybeden kişi siyah Amerikalı, ölüme neden olan kişi beyaz polisti. Ferguson’da silahsız siyah genç Michael Brown’ın polis kurşunuyla ölümü ve polisin yargılanmaması ayrımcılık tartışması başlattı.

Eric Garner ise, New York’ta Temmuz ayında karaborsada sigara satarken polis tarafından yakalanmış ve boğazından kavrandıktan sonra nefessiz kalarak yaşamını yitirmişti. Bu olayda da mahkeme büyük jürisi polis memurunu yargılamama kararı aldı.

Ellerindeki dövizlerle polis şiddetini protesto eden eylemcilerin, tek bir ortak söylemi vardı. O da ‘ırksal adaletsizliğin sona ermesi’ydi.

Medeni Haklar Savunucusu Al Sharpton’ın öncülük ettiği Washington’daki eylemde meclisten, polisin eylemleriyle ilgili yasal değişiklik yapılması talep ediliyor.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have released three official photographs of Prince George ahead of Christmas, taken on the steps of Kensington Palace.

The child is now 16 months old. He is the third in line to the throne, and was last seen in official photos released on 22 July.

Of those, 1,980 used the term “cute”, while just 12 mentioned the word “ugly”.By comparison, 25,548 tweets mentioned “Kardashian”, 5,746 referenced “the Pope” and 11,128 spoke about “Syria”.The page for the public figure “Prince George of Cambridge” on Facebook is liked be 247,970 people. Combined, the three pictures it posted last night received a total of 11,893 likes.

According to Google, 206 news articles have been written on the subject of the photos, including extensive coverage in the US, Canada and France.In the pictures themselves, Prince George is wearing a combination of baby clothes that reportedly cost “just £85”. Retailer Cath Kidston said it was considering restocking the sold-out blue tank top featured, depending on “how the demand goes”.
