Bruce Willis is Honored by the Child Actor of The Sixth Sense

Little boy from The Sixth Sense, Haley Joel Osment paid tribute to Bruce Willis on social media and reinforced gratitude for the actor.

A little over 20 years ago, The Sixth Sense hit theaters to become one of the most beloved thrillers in cinema and brought Bruce Willis in one of his most remembered works. The feature, of course, was also a milestone in the career of Haley Joel Osment, 11 years old at the time, who acted alongside the star. After the news that Bruce Willis announced a career break due to the diagnosis of aphasia, the former child actor paid tribute to his former mentor on social media.

“It’s been hard to find the right words for someone I’ve always been inspired by – first on screen and then, by a stroke of luck, in person. He is a true legend, who has enriched our lives with a singular career spanning nearly half a century. I am so grateful for what I was able to witness firsthand and for the enormous work he has built for us to enjoy for years and years to come,” wrote Haley Joel Osment.

The Sixth Sense, which made filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan the “master of twists,” also made Haley Joel Osment one of the youngest names to be nominated for an Oscar. In 2000, the actor received a nomination for Best Supporting Actor – a trophy that ended up being won that year by Michael Caine (Rules of Life). Still in childhood, Haley gained prominence in other great films, such as AI: Artificial Intelligence, Forrest Gump, The Current of Good, among others.

After spending a few years away from the spotlight, Haley has amended several films and series in recent years, with the main highlights The Boys, The Kominsky Method and Future Man: The Time Traveler. “I just wanted to express my respect and the deep admiration I have for Bruce and his family as they step forward with the courage and high spirits that have always defined them,” the actor continued on his Instagram account.
