David di Donatello 2021 to Monica Bellucci the Special Prize
Actress Monica Bellucci will receive the 2021 Special David which will be awarded to her during the 66th edition of the David di Donatello Awards. The award will be awarded on Tuesday 11 May at the final award ceremony. After Diego Abatantuono, also chosen to be awarded a David Speciale 2021, now it’s up to the Umbrian actress to receive the coveted recognition.
Monica Bellucci has been one of the best known and most appreciated Italian actresses globally for years. In her career she has collaborated with the major directors of Italian and world cinema, starting from her debut with the television miniseries Vita con i figli by Dino Risi and then as an interpreter in major international productions, such as Dracula by Bram Stoker by Francis Ford Coppola . With Malena by Giuseppe Tornatore she obtained the definitive affirmation and an extraordinary popularity that led her to act in films such as Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions by Larry and Andy Wachowski, Mel Gibson’s Passion of the Christ, Terry Gilliam’s The Brothers Grimm and the Enchanting Witch and Sam Mendes’ Specter.
The roster of directors with whom Monica Bellucci has worked is extraordinary: in addition to those just mentioned, among the many also Spike Lee, Gabriele Muccino, Antoine Fuqua, Paolo Virzì, Emir Kusturica, Marco Tullio Giordana and Alice Rohrwacher.
