The Liberals are expected to win 157 seats, or 13 seats less than the majority, and will have more difficulty passing legislation in Trudeau’s second term.

The participation rate is currently 66%.

The federal election was considered a referendum on Trudeau, who had a chaotic, scandalous first term.

Trudeau told supporters in Montreal that voters “rejected division and negativity … as well as cuts and austerity and voted for a progressive agenda and aggressive action against climate change.”

eur sur l’image politique cultivée de M. Trudeau, caractérisée par la compassion et l’inclusion.

He said, “Thank you for trusting us to move our country in the right direction.”

And to those who did not support him, he promised that his party would rule for everyone.

His weakened grip on power is seen as a reprimand on his record, but the result is extremely disappointing for conservative leader Andrew Scheer.

Why did Trudeau’s popularity fall?
Trudeau came to power in 2015 with promises of “real change” and a series of progressive promises.

But after four years in power, Mr. Trudeau was criticized for his ability to follow.

Its environmental record, for example, has been compromised by its support for the Trans Mountain Pipeline Expansion Project.

And Trudeau’s wish to implement a federal electoral reform was quickly abandoned, which angered some left-wing voters excited by the prospect of an alternative voting system.

Nevertheless, according to an independent evaluation conducted by some 20 Canadian academics, Mr. Trudeau held – totally or partially – 92% of these promises, the maximum of all Canadian governments in 35 years.

At the beginning of the year, an ethics scandal, known as the SNC-Lavalin affair, had a major impact on its support.

Last month, an ethics watchdog concluded that the Prime Minister had violated federal conflict of interest rules by unduly tempting to influence a former minister in a criminal trial in the face of Canadian engineering firm SNC-Lavalin.

Trudeau’s chances of appearing risky when images of the Prime Minister wearing blackface on three occasions were widely publicized.

The images were seen as a major impact on Mr. Trudeau’s cultivated political image of compassion and inclusion.
