Facebook will not Accept that Any Party has Declared Victory in the US Presidential Election Before the Official Result

Facebook will not accept that any party has declared victory in the US presidential election before the official result.

A Facebook spokesperson said the company will not accept any political advertising announcing victory in the US presidential election before the result is announced. The decision extends the plans the company announced this month to stop accepting any new political advertisements in the week leading up to the election date.

Facebook had said at the time that political advertisers could continue spreading propaganda after Election Day.

Democrats had warned of a “red mirage” on election night, blaming it for an expected delay in counting a record number of ballot papers in the mail this year, and voicing concerns that President Donald Trump might use Facebook to convince people he won.
