Hong Kong Academy of Sciences Cervical Cancer Screening Management System Won the 2019 Information and Communication Technology Award

The Cervical Cancer Screening Management System developed by the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) won this year’s Hong Kong ICT Awards — Smart Life (Wisdom Medical) Silver Award. The award ceremony was held on April 4th and was hosted by Ms. Lin Zhengyue, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

The Cervical Cancer Screening Management System is a convenient, efficient and accurate scalable computer-aided diagnostic platform. The system can process and detect medical images from different manufacturers and different formats through the system, provide doctors with auxiliary diagnosis suggestions, and perform remote medical diagnosis. This technology has been accepted and commercialized by one of the largest diagnostic services companies in Mainland China and Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute Limited (ASTAC) was established in 2000 by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. Its mission is to enhance the competitiveness of Hong Kong through the application of technology research to help develop technology-based industries.

ASTRI’s main technology research and development areas can be grouped into seven technical departments, including: advanced digital systems, communication technologies, electronic components, smart sensing technologies and systems, smart software and systems, mixed-signal system chips, and information security and data science. . Technology research and development is mainly applied to the five key areas of ASTRI: financial technology, smart manufacturing, health technology, smart city and ASIC.
