Iran’s Foreign Minister Plans to Visit North Korea

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif announced on Sunday his intention to visit North Korea.
Mr. Zarif : “I have this trip in my work plans, and we will soon determine its history.”

Both Iran and North Korea face major economic challenges because of US sanctions.

In an inquiry by Mohammad Javad Zarif, the IRNA news agency reported to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on the head of the Russian-Chinese leadership and asked about the possibility of Hassan Rouhani’s visit to Kim Jong-un.

The Iranian foreign minister replied that “it is not in the course of the president’s program.”

The Islamic Republic of Iran and North Korea have had friendly relations since four decades ago, and the two countries’ officials have been traveling to each other from time to time.

North Korea’s top diplomat, Ray Kyung Hu, traveled to Iran less than a year ago, and a parliamentary delegation from Iran went to Pyongyang about four months ago.
