Israel President Herzog Pays Official Visit to Turkey

Israel’s President Yitzhak Herzog and his wife Michal will host a state visit to Turkey, after being officially invited by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. During their visit to Turkey, the President and his wife will visit the cities of Ankara and Istanbul. Herzog and his wife will fly to Turkey on Wednesday, March 9, for a state visit to Turkey at the invitation of the Turkish President.
During the visit, the president will visit Ankara, where he will be received at a state reception in the palace of the Turkish president and in Istanbul the president will meet with members of the Jewish community. The president will be the first Israeli leader to visit Turkey since 2008.
Turkey’s President Erdoğan called to congratulate him on his election, a conversation that led to the resumption of dialogue between the countries after years of severance.
During the visit, coordinated with the Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister and their offices, the leaders will discuss various bilateral issues, including relations between the countries and the potential for increasing cooperation on various issues between the countries and the peoples.
