Lyft Promises to Adopt 100% Electric Car Fleet by 2030

The North American city of app-based transport company Lyft announced on Wednesday (17) that all vehicles on its platform will be electric by 2030.

The company plans to encourage competitors, lawmakers and vehicle manufacturers to make it easier for drivers to adopt electric models by creating financial incentives, Lyft executives said.

John Zimmer, president and co-founder of Lyft, said the company has reached scale to cause changes in the industry.

Lyft, whose current fleet is made up of less than 1% electric cars, said it would aggressively promote and help drivers access resources to exchange their combustion-powered vehicles.

“If policymakers do their part in the coming years, electric vehicles will achieve cost parity with gasoline models by the middle of the decade,” said Lyft.
