McDonald’s Applies for Metaverse Trademark will Set Up Virtual Restaurants

McDonald‘s recently filed a trademark application for virtual goods, services, virtual restaurants and coffee shops, entering the Metaverse.

The Metaverse is a hot topic in recent years, and major companies have set foot in one after another, and McDonald’s, the leader of the chain fast food restaurant, is not to be outdone. McDonald‘s recently filed for trademarks for virtual goods, services, virtual restaurants and coffee shops, entering the Metaverse.

According to trademark attorney Josh Gerben, McDonald‘s filed 10 trademark applications on February 4 this year, including operating a virtual restaurant featuring physical and virtual goods, a virtual restaurant featuring home delivery, a fusion of physical and virtual Concerts, other entertainment services at virtual McCafe. Gerben added that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office takes eight to nine months to review, and he expects the McDonald‘s application to be approved.

In fact, many large overseas companies and international brands have recently set foot in the Metaverse. In addition to Nike, Walmart and Sketchers, American bakery chain Panera Bread also filed a trademark application for the Metaverse for its virtual food, drink, and NFT (non-fungible tokens) on February 3. The competition in the catering industry in the Metaverse looks set to get more intense.
