Minsk Suspended the Export of Petroleum Products to Poland

Belarus has suspended exports of light petroleum products and diesel fuel to Poland, Ukraine and the Baltic countries, said Sergei Grib, deputy head of the national oil company (BNK).

It is clarified that this is due to a decrease in processing volumes due to the supply of poor-quality raw materials from Russia.
“The decline in exports occurs in order to ensure a fully domestic market in full,” – explained Grib.

He added that Minsk is working to ensure that no sanctions follow against it due to breach of contractual obligations.
The problem with the quality of oil coming from Russia to Belarus along the southern branch of the Druzhba pipeline arose last week. As noted in the concern “Belneftekhim”, low-quality oil has already begun to flow into the European Union and Ukraine.

Transneft recognized the high content of chlorides in it and announced the adoption of measures to resolve the problem as soon as possible. Minsk requested an official meeting with the Russian side, hoping including to discuss compensation for damage caused to the equipment of Belarusian refineries.

In addition, Belarus announced its intention to launch an alternative – sea – way of supply by the end of the year, which, according to Grib, is very interested in Ukraine and in the Baltic States.
