If certain traditions are abused at Ferrari (gradual introduction of low-emission or even zero-emission models, imminent arrival of an SUV), others fortunately die hard. In particular the one which wants that the discoverable versions are not put aside, unlike what happens with generalist brands. The new model that our photographers have just unearthed is precisely a clever mix of heritage and innovation. On the one hand, this is a model that will allow you to take a good sunbath. On the other hand, it will be powered by a 3.0 V6 delivering a power of 830 hp thanks to the contribution of a 167 hp electric motor. If you’re a regular reader, you might have recognized the plug-in hybrid powertrain of the all-new 296 GTB. Well, the model we are telling you about is nothing more than its open variant. Yes, it’s official, she’s going to take the top off soon.
What name for this model?
No, this is not visible at first glance but why would the Italian manufacturer bother to camouflage a model that was presented a few weeks ago. To hide the few rare elements that will differentiate it from the coupe, of course!
Technically speaking, the two models should be in all respects similar, performance a little less good due to the presence of reinforcements intended to improve the rigidity of the newcomer which will save it a little weight (the coupe weighs 1 470 kg dry), but still excellent. As a reminder, the 296 GTB reaches the maximum speed of 330 km / h. And it would not take more than 2.9 s to perform the exercise from 0 to 100 km / h, according to the manufacturer, 7.3 s to cross the 200 km / h mark. In short, figures that make you dizzy. And, electrification requires, it could travel about 25 km on a single charge.
It remains to be seen how the brand with the prancing horse will name this variation. According to the information available to us, it is rather towards the name GTS that it is moving. But that remains to be confirmed, it could just as well be called Spider, a name more frequently encountered nowadays elsewhere at Ferrari (F8, SF90). No need to wait too long to get the answer to this question because the presentation of this model should take place at the end of the year, at the latest at the beginning of next year.
A 120° V6, together with a plug-in hybrid system, powers the new #Ferrari296GTB. Yet this is not the first time the Prancing Horse has built such an innovative engine. Travel in history with The Official Ferrari Magazine.#Ferrari #FerrariMagazine
