Nissan X-Trail 2021 A Taste with its US Version

New Nissan X-Trail 2021 – For the time being, the new generation of the 7-seater SUV, extrapolated from the Qashqai, is officially hiding under the name Nissan Rogue. But logically, this American version reveals 99% of the lines of the European derivative, competitor of the Peugeot 5008 and Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace.

In Europe, the Nissan X-Trail is enjoying happy days in its segment. But it is far from equaling the record sales of its little brother Qashqai, in the most prominent crossover category. On the other side of the Atlantic, it is quite different for him, under the name of Snape. With more than 380,000 copies sold in North America in 2019, it acts as a cash cow in these latitudes. This is what is worth in this market to get the scoop of the revelation of this model.

For the time being, it is difficult to draw a parallel between the characteristics of the Rogue and those of the future Nissan X-Trail, as they will be logically different mechanically, from one continent to another. If plug-in hybridization is eagerly awaited on this model, it would seem that it will not be part of the endowment, at launch, much to the despair of the North American press. Our Canadian colleagues from RMP do not understand this absence, at a time when competition makes it their main workhorse. In Europe, we hope that the PHEV block of the Renault Captur and Mégane (160 hp accumulated) will be introduced under the hood of the new X-Trail, with a potentially higher power level.

The other source of concern comes from the renewal of the CVT automatic transmission, little appreciated in our skies. One can however imagine that it will not cross the Atlantic, at the time of its launch in Europe, insofar as the current X-Trail was recently converted, with happiness, to the robotized box with double clutch DCT d Renault origin.

If it is primarily intended for the North American market, fond of imposing SUVs, the newcomer does not seem to have outbid the size side. Nissan even announces a length decreasing by 4 cm, which would make it around 4.65 m long, equivalent to a Peugeot 5008. The new Nissan X-Trail would therefore be more compact than the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace (4.70 m).

Aesthetically speaking, the new Nissan Rogue / X-Trail adopts the latest codes of the brand, with this very indented grille, at the top of which enthine fine luminous signatures, Juke style. We should also note the efforts made in terms of quality on board, with a more opulent-looking cockpit. Its multimedia content announces itself in tune, integrating a fully digital 12.3 ”diagonal panel, in place of analog meters. It relays information, notably relating to navigation, from the central 9 “touch screen.

You will have to wait a few weeks, even a few months, before getting to know the new Nissan X-Trail, in a definitive way. While waiting for this European variant, this Snape makes our mouths water in a very nice way. The latter will start his commercial career in the fall of 2020 in the USA, when the X-Trail will probably not land before 2021 in France. Its basic price will change beyond € 32,000, for sure.
