Nice and Favre Want Gladbach Keeper Sommer

French side Nice are interested in signing Borussia Mönchengladbach goalkeeper Yann Sommer, media reports in France and Germany said on Friday.

Nice are coached by former Gladbach boss Lucien Favre, who is keen to reunite with the 33-year-old Switzerland keeper, who has been with Gladbach for eight years.

Reports said Sommer, whose Gladbach deal has another year to run, was also interested.

Favre has been reappointed Nice coach having turned down overtures to go back to Gladbach. He said at his presentation that a new keeper was crucial after Walter Benitez left for PSV Eindhoven.

The Bild newspaper said Nice and Favre are also tracking Gladbach forwards Alassane Plea and Marcus Thuram.

Gladbach are coached by former Norwich City boss Daniel Farke after Adi Hütter left following a disappointing mid-table Bundesliga finish last term.
