Obama: “Turkey like every other country has a right to defend its territory and its airspace”
At a press conference , when asked about the shooting down of a Russian plane by a Turkish jet fighter and how to keep this incident “from spiraling out of control,” President Barack Obama said he expected to be in touch with Turkish President Recep Erdogan “sometime over the next several days.”
At the White House press conference,Journalist asked, “What is your reaction to Turkey’s shooting down a Russian plane today, and does this draw NATO into a confrontation with Russia, how do you keep this from spiraling out of control?”
President Obama said, “Well, first of all, we’re still getting the details of what happened. I expect to be in communications potentially directly with President Erdogan sometime over the next several days.”
