Bombay Begums: Child Commission Sent Notice Regarding Some Scenes

Recently, Pooja Bhatt starrer web series ‘Bombay Begums‘ has sparked controversy after Amazon Prime’s ‘Tandava’. The series has been accused of misrepresenting children. The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has sought to stop the streaming of this web series.

After Bollywood, the difficulty of series and films on OTT platform is increasing nowadays. Recently, Pooja Bhatt starrer web series ‘Bombay Begums’ has sparked controversy after Amazon Prime’s ‘Tandava’. The series has been accused of misrepresenting children. The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has sought to stop the streaming of this web series. There has been a ruckus on Twitter regarding some scenes of this series. Let me tell you, this web series of Netflix was released on 8 March.

Many scenes and screenshots of Bombay Begums are going viral on Twitter, which are being objected. Most of these scenes are of actress Aadhya Anand. In this series Adhya plays Pooja Bhatt’s stepdaughter Shay. Some scenes in the series show that the 13-year-old boy who goes to school has been shown to take alcohol and drugs at a party. Also in one scene, Shay sees girls in school talking about their bodies and taking pictures. After this, a picture is made on paper talking about the bodies of the shay queens. The clip of this scene is becoming very fast and social media users have been objecting to it. A few days ago, information and broadcasting minister Prakash Javadekar had also demanded action against it.

The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights wrote in its notice to Netflix, “Netflix should take extra precaution in relation to children or while streaming any content for children. You are ordered to look into the matter and Streaming of the series should be stopped immediately and a detailed report submitted within 24 hours. If it does not, the Commission will be obliged to take appropriate action under the provisions of Section 14 of the CPCR Act, 2005. ”

Bombay Begums Web Series is a story of five women of different ages and categories. This web series is directed by Alankrita Srivastava. This web series includes many big stars including Pooja Bhatt, Suhana Goswami, Plabita Bor-Thakur, Adhya Anand.
