Geneva. Scientists have developed the world’s smallest stent, which is 40 times smaller than any existing stent.
Researchers at the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, Switzerland, report that the stent is used to treat closed arteries of the heart, but the fetal urinary tubes are much narrower than those of the heart arteries.

Gaston de Bernadiz of Zurich-based Argua Cantonal Hospital Approached the Multi Scale Robotic Lab said that it was not traditionally possible to make stents of such a small size.
He said that laboratory researchers have developed new technology with the help of which 100 micrometer diameter stents can be made. Principal researcher Carmela de Marco said that we have printed the world’s smallest stent, which is 40 times smaller than the stent ever made.
He said that the stent is manufactured on the basis of 3-dimensional printing technique, although several tests are yet to be done before launching the stent in the market.
