The 5G will have an Impact of US$ 1.2 Trillion on the Brazilian GDP
For Ailton Santos, the country needs to advance as soon as possible in the 5G auction to start reaping the benefits of the new generation of technology that will change the world.
Nokia’s CEO in Brazil, Ailton Santos, stated that Brazil needs to advance as soon as possible in the 5G auction to start reaping the advantages of the new generation of technology. “Nokia commissioned a study through Omdia where it was pointed out that, with the implementation of 5G in Brazil, we should have an impact of 1.2 trillion dollars on GDP by 2035. If we count the increase in productivity with the economy digital, we are talking about 3.08 trillion dollars”, he said in an interview with Veja.
Ailton Santos said that Brazil is not very late in implementing the technology and that the difference of a few months is not critical. However, the sooner the better. “The sooner we start to install new technology, the sooner we will have those benefits and that impact back,” he said.
Earlier this month, the Minister of Communications, Fabio Faria, stated that all Brazilian capitals will have the new technology by July 2022. He also said that by the end of the year some capitals in the country may have pure 5G. The minister did not announce which cities would be.
The 5G auction process will be voted in plenary at the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) on August 18, at 10 am. .
