The Chinese President in Pyongyang
Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Pyongyang on Thursday for a two-day official visit, the first by a Chinese president to North Korea in 14 years.
Xi, accompanied by his wife Peng Liwan, Foreign Minister Wang Yi and other officials, landed at 11:40 am local time (0240 GMT), according to China Central Television.
Shi and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un will seek to improve relations deteriorated by Pyongyang’s nuclear tests and Beijing’s subsequent support for international sanctions.
The North Korean leader had visited his ally from the Cold War four times last year as Beijing called for easing sanctions.
