27 February, The UN Security Council on Sunday voted to hold a special session of the UN General Assembly on Ukraine.

11 members of the Security Council voted in favor of the resolution, Russia voted against (since the vote is procedural, in this case the vote of a permanent member is not a veto), three abstained (including China).

The last time a special session of the UN General Assembly was convened in 1997 in connection with the situation in the Palestinian territories. In total, since the beginning of the work of the world organization, there have been 10 such sessions (each session provides for the possibility of holding an unlimited number of meetings over several years).
