Turkish Ministry of National Education Decided to Shut Down 626 Gülen Schools
After July 15 coup attempt, 524 private and 102 educational institutions were shut down. Turkish Ministry of National Education launched an investigation after coup attempt. The Higher Education Board (YÖK) has suspended four rectors and requested resignations of over 1,500 deans, amid a nationwide crackdown following the failed July 15 military coup attempt. All deans resigned. Besides, a large number of faculty members and university staff was also dismissed.
Meanwhile, a total of 6,538 people were suspended from the Turkish Education Ministry on July 20. The number of suspended personnel from the ministry has reached 21,738. due to their alleged links to FETÖ on July 19.
