U.S. Stocks Closed Slightly after the Fed Announced the Maintenance of the Ultra-Low Interest Rate Policy
The Federal Reserve Board (Fed) announced today that it will maintain the benchmark interest rate close to zero, while maintaining the current scale of debt purchases, and there is no sign that it is prepared to relax its support for economic recovery. U.S. stocks subsequently closed down slightly.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 164.55 points
The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index fell slightly 3.54 points.
The Nasdaq index of technology stocks fell 39.18 points.
