Xbox Live Gold, Microsoft Decided to Keep the Previous Prices

Less than 24 hours after announcing that it would double the American price of Xbox Live Gold, Microsoft reversed the decision and decided to keep the previous prices.

In addition, the company has pledged to remove the obligation to pay for Live Gold to access online free games such as Fortnite and Call of Duty: Warzone.

The move puts Microsoft‘s online service on an equal footing with Sony and Nintendo equivalents, which also do not charge for online access via free games.

The quick reversal of the previous decision came after the company received harsh criticism from fans on social media. “We made a mistake today and you were right to make us aware of that,” the company said in an official statement. “Connecting and playing with friends is a vital part of the gaming experience, and we fail to meet the expectations of players who rely on it daily. As a result, we have decided not to change the price of Xbox Live Gold.”

According to the same text, the change in the treatment of free games on the Xbox should happen “as soon as possible in the coming months.”

With the new decision, the annual subscription of Xbox Live Gold in the USA costs $ 60 again.
