Link Between the Hepatitis and Corona

Israeli researchers estimate: hepatitis that befell children – a result of long cob
Schneider Hospital has found that ten of the Israeli children who have had hepatitis in recent months have been recovering from Corona. Data on children from abroad also suggest a possible link between the hepatitis and Corona, but there is still no unequivocal conclusion.

Has the cause of the mysterious hepatitis that has plagued hundreds of children around the world in recent months been found? Researchers at Schneider Hospital found that ten of the 22 Israeli children who contracted the inflammation recovered from the coronary artery, and their clinical picture was similar, so it is estimated that the hepatitis is a result of long cobid. The findings are published in an article published in the American Journal of Gastroenterology in Children.

Schneider researchers describe in their article five children who have been hospitalized in the past year due to hepatitis. They underwent full screening, including genetic testing and a liver biopsy, and the only connecting thread found between them was the fact that they had recovered from a corona a few months earlier. In recent months, more children, also corona recoverers, have suffered from hepatitis, leading researchers to speculate that hepatitis is a result of long coboid.

Dr. Orit Weisbord Zinman: “The current collection of cases of significant jaundice and corona leads to the conclusion that hepatitis is a result of Long Cubid. “Obviously there is still doubt, but corona seems to be the main cause of the disease, and not the adeno virus, as previously thought.”
“The children came with the same picture of hepatitis and severe jaundice,” says Dr. Orit Weisbord Zinman, director of liver disease at Schneider. Since then, eight more children with hepatitis have come to us, and we also found only the corona with them. Data that also came to us from Shaare Zedek and Rambam “showed similar findings.”
According to Dr. Weisbord Zinman, the connection between the corona and hepatitis is not unequivocal, but data from abroad also show that it exists. “Every year there are unknown cases of hepatitis in children,” she says. “The current collection of cases of significant jaundice and corona leads to the conclusion that hepatitis is a result of Long Cubid. Obviously there is still doubt, but corona seems to be the main cause of the disease, not the adeno virus, as previously thought.”
To date, about 700 children have been reported to have hepatitis in 34 different countries. About 10% of them needed a liver transplant, and four died. The clinical syndrome was manifested by gastrointestinal problems, including abdominal pain, diarrhea and vomiting before the onset of severe hepatitis, as well as jaundice and elevated levels of liver enzymes on blood test. The common viruses that cause acute viral hepatitis have not been identified in any of the cases.
Doctors were asked to take blood tests that included a count, a liver function test and coagulation and a serology test for corona and adeno – and if necessary, refer patients to a liver clinic.
