Deer Park Refinery Fire Broke Out in Distillation Unit

The Deer Park refinery, owned by Pemex, has two crude distillation units and the fire would have started in one of the two.
The fire registered Thursday night at the Pemex refinery in Deer Park, Texas, started in a crude distillation unit (CDU).
The sources did not know which of the two Deer Park units was hit by the fire. The plant has a CDU of 270,000 barrels per day (bpd) and another of 70,000 bpd, both of which break down crude oil into raw materials for all other refining units.
Pemex was evaluating this Friday the damage to the refinery, which has a production capacity of 312,500 barrels per day.
The fire at the Deer Park refinery was one of three that affected Pemex facilities in Mexico and the United States on Thursday.
