Aesthetic Touch-ups for a Good Face Effect that Instantly Rejuvenate After 40

Aesthetic touch-ups with injectable substances live their best moment. An increasingly demanded practice with a clear objective: a natural result.

Aesthetic medicine has changed a lot in the last 10 years. Especially in its social acceptance. Before, no one confessed to having undergone a touch-up, even if it was obvious. Now, it is counted as something normal, it is discussed among friends and even published on social networks. And it is that no matter how much low cost cosmetics we use or how much we try to hide the tired face with colored creams, there are times that the body asks us for something more. And it may be that social networks, precisely, have been a good springboard for a change in mentality, but they are also responsible for the fact that more and more young people want to undergo some aesthetic retouching as soon as they come of age.

What do they demand the most? Lip augmentation. But at what age should you start? “There is no chronological age, but we are in favor of starting treatments at an early age in a simple and painless way, because the loss of collagen and elastin begins at the age of 29,” advises Dr. Shoib Myint from Face Madrid. “Aesthetic medicine not only treats aging, it also improves features of the anatomy to help the patient look better,” he continues. From Mira + Cueto they point out that «there is no certain age to start with aesthetic medicine treatments.

It all depends on the need and personal approach. If we talk about medical-aesthetic treatments in general, the correction must achieve prevention. Genetics determines our basic characteristics, but if we act soon after a diagnosis where the need is assessed, we do not age or pass time in the same way. We can partly modify our genetic base and direct our aging, ”they say.

THE MOST DEMANDED
Naturalness is the main objective of patients, mostly women, who come to a cosmetic doctor’s office. «They usually want to look better, they look for some natural retouching and that it is not very noticeable. The most demanded areas are the upper third of the face, to rejuvenate the area between the eyebrows and the forehead, and the crow’s feet.

Botulinum toxin (botox) continues to be the star treatment, although more and more patients are requesting lip rejuvenation,” says Dr. Vanja Pantic, from the Pedro Jaén group. But the key to a good result is given to us by Allergan Aesthetics: a good diagnosis, a good professional and a good product.

“The qualification and experience of the doctor are essential for a good diagnosis and adequate treatment, and the choice of the product is key to its effectiveness and safety,” explains Dr. Elia Roó Rodriguez, director of the Clider clinic.

INJECTION OF CONFIDENCE
“The doctor-patient relationship is always based on trust. On many occasions there is confusion regarding what each product is for and what results can be achieved, so the key is to make a correct diagnosis by showing the changes that occur in the face over time so that it is better understood what areas must be treated and how”, clarifies the director of the Clider clinic.

“The best advice I can give a patient when they first come is to ask everything: the product they infiltrate, the process, the result, and any other questions they may have about the treatment itself,” advises Dr. Pantic, of the Pedro Jaen Group.

ZERO RISK
But the risks exist. “Injectables are 100% safe, but all these procedures have a risk if you don’t know where to inject and how much. The result will always depend on you choosing a good professional,” says Dr. Shoib Myint, from Face Madrid. Dr. Pantic explains “for me, the most important thing is that they leave the first consultation calm and that can only be achieved by informing the patient well. There is no reason to be afraid, if the doctor has the same vision as you about the treatment, the results will always be as expected.

«The success of a good aesthetic medicine treatment is based on three things: a good diagnosis, a good professional and a good product»
WHAT DO I WEAR?
Dr. Imaculada Ortiz, head of the Advanced Aesthetic Medicine area at the ITYOS Clinic in Madrid, gives us the keys to the different injectables.

HYALURONIC ACID
“There are two types: cross-linked and non-cross-linked. The non-crosslinked is the one that is injected more superficially, especially to moisturize the skin. Cross-linked HA is used to volumize and is applied to different areas, depending on what you are looking for. In some, supraperiosteal (above the bone) is injected to provide tension; in others it is placed subdermal to give volume. It can be done with a cannula or a needle.

“The best advice I can give to a patient who comes for the first time is to ask everything: the product, the process and the result”
BOTULINUM TOXIN
«In aesthetic medicine it is used to myomodulate, which means that we relax the muscles that interest us to achieve the desired effect. It is generally injected intramuscularly, although in some areas it is done subdermally. It is injected mainly in the forehead, between the eyebrows and crow’s feet.

VITAMINS
«What is most used are cocktails with various types of vitamins and they are almost always mixed with non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid. The vitamins are punctured very superficially and what we achieve is moisturizing, giving luminosity and an antioxidant effect on the skin cells».
