Airbus is building a second single-aisle A320 Family aircraft assembly line at its Tianjin plant in China. The step, which should come into service in the second half of 2025, will allow the French company to double its capacity in the Asian country.
The second line in Tianjin will contribute to the goal that Airbus has set to increase its production rate worldwide to 75 A320 family aircraft in 2026 compared to around 45 per month in 2022, the aeronautical group said Thursday. European.
The announcement was made in Beijing, where Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury is present, on the occasion of French President Emmanuel Macron’s state visit to China to meet his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jingpin.
Likewise, the Chinese authorities have authorized an order to Airbus by the rental company China Aviation Supplies Company (CASC). In total, there will be 160 aircraft, 150 of them from the A320 single-aisle family and the remaining 10 from the A350 long-range twin-aisle model.
The approval of the Chinese Government is necessary for CASC to communicate to the European producer that it can start manufacturing the aircraft and it has been known when it appears in a document released by the Élysée that lists the agreements and contracts signed in the framework of the visit of Macron to Beijing.
It is about an order that had already been communicated last year and that, since then, had been included in the Airbus order book.
