IPC-S Rises 0.70% in the First four Weeks of April

The Weekly Consumer Price Index (IPC-S) decelerated to 0.70% in the first four-week period of April, after ending March with a rise of 0.74%. The information was disclosed this Monday (10) by the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV).
In 12 months, the indicator accumulated a positive change of 3.65%, compared to 4.04% at the end of March.
Among the eight expense classes that make up the indicator, four decelerated in the period, with emphasis on the Transport group (from +2.82% to 2.27%), driven by IPVA licensing (from 3.52% to 1. 49%).
There was also an increase and decrease in the groups: Housing (from 0.94% to 0.82%), Health and Personal Care (0.96% to 0.89%) and Communication (0.30% to 0.21%).
In these expense classes, the highlight was the behavior of residential electricity tariff (from 3.30% to 2.76%), hygiene and personal care items (2.00% to 1.55%) and telephone tariff mobile (0.81% to 0.51%).
On the other hand, FGV recorded progress in the groups Education, Reading and Recreation (-1.90% to -1.41%), Food (0.15% to 0.30%), Clothing (0.11% to 0. 34%) and Miscellaneous Expenses (0.16% to 0.17%).
In these expense classes, the variations were led by airfare (-9.75% to -7.93%), vegetables (-1.83% to -0.79%), women’s clothing (0.06% to 0.67%) and postal tariff (0.18% to 0.62%), respectively.
Influences
The main negative influences on the IPC-S in the first four weeks of April were airfare (-9.75% to -7.93%); apple (-10.82% to -13.62%); English potato (-13.19% to -11.96%); silver banana (-8.88% to -8.84%) and onion (-7.70% to -8.47%).
At the other end, the main upward influences for the indicator in this reading were gasoline (8.86% to 7.17%); residential electricity tariff (3.30% to 2.76%); residential rent (1.94% to 1.56%); health plan and insurance (1.09% to 1.09%) and licensing – IPVA (3.52% to 1.49%).
