Japan Cancels 40 Million Doses of AstraZeneca Vaccine Orders

The Japanese government ordered 120 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine last year, but because of the extremely low probability of thrombosis side effects after receiving AstraZeneca vaccine, the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare stipulated in August last year that AstraZeneca vaccine should be vaccinated in principle for people over 40 years old person.
Japan has only received about 120,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine
It is reported that the Ministry of Health and Labour has so far allocated 200,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine to the local governments responsible for vaccination, but only about 120,000 doses have been vaccinated in the eight months as of April 10.
Of the 80 million doses of AstraZeneca’s vaccine ordered by Japan, 43 million doses have been donated to foreign countries, mainly targeting developing countries. Japan will further donate more vaccines.
