Karan has confessed this in one of his old videos. He had asked Aditya Chopra to cast someone else instead of the actress in Anushka’s first film ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ with Shah Rukh Khan. In the year 2016, Karan was seen with the team of the film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil during the 18th MAMI Mumbai Film Festival. During that time, while talking about Anushka on the stage itself, Karan had told that he wanted to end Anushka’s career completely.

Arguing his statement, the director said, ‘When Aditya Chopra showed Anushka’s pictures to him, his reaction was… no-no… are you crazy, you are signing it! There is no need to sign this Anushka Sharma.’ But, further Karan told that Anushka’s tremendous performance in the next film had changed his whole outlook.
