Porsche A Modern Display and Control System in Cayenne

Porsche will debut a modern display and control system in its new Cayenne

The new Porsche Driver Experience seeks to make the experience revolve around the driver.

Porsche, in its search for the driving experience to revolve around the driver, will debut a modern display and control system in its new Cayenne, which includes a completely redesigned cockpit, a digital instrument panel, a passenger screen capable of transmitting videos, among other improvements.

The new Porsche Driver Experience, as this set of technologies is known, will be presented in April together with the latest generation of the Cayenne in Shanghai, China.

“Like other companies, we talk about driver experience, but we deliberately call it driving experience because we are a sports car brand. So, this means that in our cars the driver comes first, and that means that we put all the elements around the driver”, expressed Ivo van Hulten, director of User Experience Design, in a round table with Latin American media in which he participated The new day.

The Cayenne has a luxurious cabin, which adopts some of the elements integrated by the Stuttgart manufacturer in the Taycan electric sports car.

For example, the instrument cluster is now a curved 12.6-inch all-digital display, providing a slim, modern look. Depending on the level of the vehicle, Porshe reported that the driver can choose up to seven different displays.

Another key change with the arrival of the Porsche Driver Experience is that while the engine start button is typically to the left of the steering wheel in a Porsche vehicle, in the case of the Cayenne it was located to the right of the steering wheel between the instrument cluster and center display, which made room for a new air conditioning panel and more storage space.

Meanwhile, the new multifunction sports steering wheel has its origins in the 911 model. Compared to the predecessor model, it has been completely reworked in a high-quality, modern and sporty design.

On the steering wheel, there is a button to select the normal, offroad, sport and sport plus driving modes. The new button changer for selecting features and layouts in the instrument cluster is also located directly on the steering wheel, as are the controls for the optional head-up display.

On the central screen, where the main functions of the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) are, Porshe indicated that it measures 12.3 inches. The driver can operate multiple driving functions from the screen, as well as the standard online navigation and multimedia functions.

In addition to this screen, the Cayenne includes an optional touch screen for the passenger, with an extension of 10.9 inches. Allows the front passenger to operate online navigation or select a device.

“This is also a way to protect drivers from being distracted, but it also gives the driver all the accessibility that we know today on TikTok, but in a slightly more modern form,” Hulten said.

Regarding the connection, this model offers four USB-C ports, while all USB ports provide a fast charging function. The Cayenne is compatible with the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto operating systems. To connect a device, just scan a QR code.
