Whats App will Stop Working on Older Smartphones

Starting January 1, 2020, many device owners will lose their ability to use WhatsApp. The messenger will not work on the Windows Phone platform. In February, the application will cease to support Android up to versions 2.3.7, as well as iPhone with operating systems up to iOS 8 inclusive. This is reported by Izvestia.

The popular messenger will remain on devices with Android operating systems 4.0.3 and higher, iPhone with iOS 9 and more modern. In addition, WhatsApp will be available to owners of smartphones with Linux platform KaiOS 2.5.1 and later, including JioPhone and JioPhone

The fact that WhatsApp will cease to work on a number of obsolete devices became known back in October. This decision was made on the advice of the developers of the application – they recommended using the messenger on smartphones with Android 4.0.3 and iOS 9, as well as on more modern versions of these systems.

The messenger will have new functions – it will be possible to prohibit adding oneself to chats, and messages will be automatically deleted after a certain time. Now these innovations are being tested.
