Jakarta –Former member of the Indonesian Ombudsman, Alamsyah Saragih, assessed that it is unethical for commissioners of financial institutions to become members of the Selection Committee for the Selection of Candidates for the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority or DK OJK.

“Financial institution commissioners, even SOEs, do their fit and proper test by the OJK. They are given the authority to select the OJK board of commissioners. Very unethical,” Alamsyah said when contacted Thursday, December 30, 2021.

“This is called a potential conflict of interest.”

According to him, if propriety is violated for matters of a fundamental nature, as a citizen, I must remind him. “If as a citizen you just keep quiet, what kind of nation is this?”

After all, he said, at the level of assistants to President Joko Widodo, all smart people.

“Don’t let the president be left like this. What’s smart but unethical? What do you call it? People from Jogja say: ngono yo ngono, ning ojo ngono. If you still don’t have feelings, it’s up to you,” he said.

Previously, President Joko Widodo established a selection committee for the selection of candidates for the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority (OJK). The committee was led by the Minister of Finance, Sri Mulyani Indrawati.

This was determined by Jokowi through Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 145/P of 2021 concerning the Establishment of the Selection Committee for the Selection of Candidates for the OJK Board of Commissioners for the 2022-2027 Period. The Presidential Decree was enacted on Friday, December 24, 2021.
