A Comprehensive Resumption of Diplomatic Relations Between Saudi Arabia and Iran

Arab and Islamic countries welcomed the joint tripartite statement issued by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Islamic Republic of Iran and China regarding the Kingdom and Iran reaching an agreement that includes agreeing to resume diplomatic relations between them and reopen their embassies and representations within a maximum period of two months.
The agreement also includes their affirmation of respect for the sovereignty of states and non-interference in their internal affairs, and they agreed that the foreign ministers of the two countries hold a meeting to activate this, arrange the exchange of ambassadors and discuss ways to strengthen relations between them, and they also agreed to activate the security cooperation agreement between them, signed on 1/22/1422 AH, Corresponding to 4/17/2001 AD and the general agreement for cooperation in the field of economy, trade, investment, technology, science, culture, sports and youth, signed on 2/2/1419 AH corresponding to 5/27/1998 AD.
Each of the three countries expressed their keenness to make every effort to enhance regional and international peace and security.
The Arab Republic of Egypt announced that it was following with interest the agreement announced to resume diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In a statement, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry expressed its aspiration for the agreement to contribute to easing tensions in the region, to strengthen the pillars of stability and to preserve the capabilities of Arab national security, and the aspirations of the peoples of the region for prosperity, development and stability.
The UAE
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, affirmed that the restoration of relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran is an important step for the region towards stability and prosperity.
In turn, Dr. Anwar bin Muhammad Gargash, the diplomatic advisor to The President of the UAE, announced that the UAE welcomed the agreement between Saudi Arabia and Iran to resume bilateral diplomatic relations. Anwar Gargash said in a tweet on his Twitter account: “We welcome the agreement between Saudi Arabia and Iran to resume diplomatic relations between the two countries, and we appreciate the Chinese role in this regard.”
He added, “The UAE believes in the importance of positive communication and dialogue between the countries of the region towards consolidating the concepts of good neighborliness and starting from a common ground to build a more stable future for all.”
Sultanate of Oman
The Sultanate of Oman welcomed the joint tripartite statement issued by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Islamic Republic of Iran and the People’s Republic of China to resume diplomatic relations between the Kingdom and Iran, to reopen their embassies and representations within a maximum period of two months, to activate the security cooperation agreement between them, and the general agreement for cooperation in the field of economy, trade, investment, technology and science. In a statement, the Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Sultanate of Oman’s hope that this step would contribute to strengthening the pillars of security and stability in the region and consolidating positive and constructive cooperation that benefits all peoples of the region and the world.
Iraq
A spokesman for the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Al-Sahaf, confirmed that the agreement between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Iran to resume diplomatic relations between them will create a new climate in promoting the interests of the region.
He indicated – in a statement – that the Saudi-Iranian agreement comes as a culmination of the two sides’ vision of the priority of dialogue as a way to reduce tension, indicating that the agreement inaugurates a new phase of collective opportunities.
He explained that Iraq’s hosting of the dialogue rounds between the Kingdom and Iran comes with the aim of the region’s need to achieve the desired integration at all levels, stressing the need to create a safe area and an environment that enhances development opportunities according to a collective will that transcends differences.
Jordan
Today, the Jordanian government welcomed the tripartite statement issued by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Islamic Republic of Iran and the People’s Republic of China regarding the resumption of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom and Iran, appreciating the role of the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Iraq. Algeria
Algeria welcomed the resumption of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Iran, with the reopening of the embassies of the two countries within a maximum period of two months.
Algeria – according to a statement by its Foreign Ministry – expressed its satisfaction with the positive atmosphere that characterized the talks that took place between the two countries, under the auspices of China.
