Aston Martin AM-RB 003, Valkyrie with V6 engine
Aston Martin await some very hopeful years judging by their latest releases. If we have already talked at length about the spectacular Aston Martin Valkyrie now reveals what will be a kind of little brother. A second hypercar with a central engine (third if we count the Valkyrie AMR Pro) very focused on the technical section that will feature innovations from the competition. At the moment it is only a prototype and it is called AM-RB 003.
This code follows the line of the brand (the Valkyrie was initially AM-RB 001) and confirms that a partner of the caliber of Red Bull Advanced Technologies will be present in its development. Follow the evolution and apply many technologies of Formula 1, in addition to having a hybrid propulsion system. In this case it will be produced in a limited edition of 500 units, although we still do not know when we will see the production version, much less when it will reach the market.
In the AM-RB 003 the design of the Valkyrie has been reproduced in a certain part although it seems to have been polished in some areas. As expected, everything is focused on achieving maximum aerodynamic efficiency. From there to find a front that looks out of competition, with a pointed cap that points down and has a NACA type air intake. The headlights are of small dimensions and are on the sides, already drawing the wheel arches.
Although what is most outstanding about the aerodynamics of this still prototype is its FlexFoil technology. It has the validation of NASA and is an active solution to change the flow of air without changing the angle of that striking rear spoiler. Another hallmark is that its doors open forward as in an LMP1 and give way to a cabin that is more habitable and comfortable than the Valkyrie.
The interior also premieres a new design in which everything remains focused on the pilot. It boasts a driving position that seeks maximum ergonomics and from the position you can see the instrumentation screen, placed in the same steering column, behind a futuristic steering wheel. In the central console there is space for a second screen, the user’s own smartphone, which will provide the rest of the infotainment functions.
The AM-RB 003 does not look for luxury or distinction of other models and therefore we will not see materials like wood or leather in its cabin. Mix space technology with traditional craftsmanship through 3D printed elements or switches with integrated functions. In this way, the weight of these elements can be reduced as much as possible.
What we have not yet been able to know is the mechanics of this Aston Martin AM-RB 003. The Gaydon brand only tells us that it will be the first vehicle to assemble the V6 turbo hybrid engine of its own development. It probably does not reach the figures of the V12 Valkyrie, but it is great news to return to the engines of internal development. It is also said that it will have a Nexcel system for the change of engine oil, something that comes directly from the competition. It would be the first street car to be able to perform that operation in 90 seconds.
