Emporio Armani is Staged Between ‘Classic Pro’ and Recycling
Emporio Armani collection for winter 2020-2021 staged yesterday in the Via Bergognone theater with surprise ending of the writing that runs through the room, “I am saying yes to recycling”, and which is reproduced on all the garments of the capsule of 18 pieces in black and white and in recovered fabrics, to the applause of Biagio Antonacci, from Riki, Francesco Facchinetti, Cody Simpson and Saul Nanni guests in the front row. “This is a promotional ending for Earth not for the brand – explains Armani – I have nothing to say except that we must all work to protect the Planet. We must increasingly use recyclable fabrics, it is the minimum! It must be consistent across the supply chain. ”
For the next winter’s Emporio Armani collection we think of young people and the new elegance that the stylist calls Classic Pro, progressive classic, the right one for today’s kids, a formula far from excesses but clear and strong, a new classic that is not “neither grotesque nor feminine”, with tradition renewed starting with fabrics. And here are lines, diagonals, paintings, Chevron, Prince of Wales as dilated and magnified, pinstripes and houndstooth cloud gray or red and black which are “two clean, clean colors”.
Armani jokes backstage when a slightly mischievous English journalist asks him what he thinks of Harry and Meghan: “The prince is tall, I could take him for the bespoke campaign, and this is a scoop!”. The great designer is fit and relaxed, happy with the reopening of the Giorgio Armani boutique in via Sant’Andrea which is the sum of his lifestyle for the furnishings and contents of all its lines. “I feel a bit of nostalgia and emotion towards this shop – he says remembering the times of the first opening in 1983 – I was much younger and more available. Today I am much less and I do not compromise. Today I am more aggressive than then”.
For Emporio Armani, therefore, there is talk of a more disenchanted way of dressing, with amusing padded jerks to be worn on the dress or on the large and enveloping pull, with a gesture of protection. Even in the evening it is very special with the jackets that have shoulders and lapels illuminated by sparkling baguettes, “to remove the too serious air from the Prince of Wales suit and give it a more glamorous touch. Moreover – Giorgio continues – the experience and the market teaches me that the clothes that come out most of my stores are often the most special things. ” Also very nice is the flash that parades for EA7 which aims at snow sports, with fun duvets with rainbow-colored brush strokes.
