At present, just under 20% of the top positions at the automotive supplier and tyre manufacturer are currently held by women, the company says.
Among them is head of human resources Ariane Reinhart.
“Gender diversity is an important aspect of diversity,” she said, explaining the new target. “And last but not least, it is about real equality of opportunity.”
Nonetheless, the best possible suitability for the role and professional qualifications always mattered most, she noted.
To retain skilled managers, she said a flexible working environment and support with childcare was important. Continental is generally looking for more skilled workers, especially in technical roles and growing sectors such as software, sensor technology and electronics.
