Torque is also higher, no less than 40.8 kgfm, compared to 37.7 kgfg. Nothing could be more fair, as the Corolla must be about 200 kg more.

Everything on the powertrain is curious. The traction is permanent four by four (front in the other Corollas), equipped with differential lock on both axles (optional), perhaps the only way to put all this on the ground without major traction losses. The transmission is a six-speed manual, another big difference from the CVT of the others.

Acceleration from zero to 100 km/h should be around 5 seconds. Quite different from the 2.0 aspirated of the most powerful Corolla currently sold in Brazil, endowed with 177 hp and capable of doing the same in 9.6 s.

Interior space and finish
It’s not uncommon for a hatchback version to have less wheelbase than a sedan, and that’s what happens with the Corolla. There are 2.63 meters of wheelbase, a distance much smaller than the 2.70 m of the sedan.

The GR Corolla will have a rear seat. It seems silly to point this out, but the exclusive Morizo ​​edition dispenses with the back seats to save weight and also to make room for the installation of a structural reinforcing bar. But it’s an almost unusual special touch, since the doors were kept!

The Corolla’s hatch body still has in other markets, however, there is no three-door option. Likewise, only the exposed exhaust of the Corolla Cross – was it a matter of nostalgia? I do not think so. What GR needs to overcome is the cult surrounding AE86.
