Luis Amado: “Russia and China are in A Position of Competitive Advantage”

Former Foreign Minister  of Portuguese Luis Amado believes that the “phenomenon of polarization, radicalization” and “the emptying of a center of social, economic and political moderation and stabilization in all geographic areas of the world is a sign that we have entered a period of transition”.

For the former ruler, “American hegemony and Western hegemony in the system are being called into question”.

Luis Amado is the next guest of the podcast “Conversas Visiveis”, a format conducted by the columnists of “Mao Visível” and which will be available on the Jornal de Negocios website and on the platforms Apple Podcasts and Spotify from this Thursday, the 25th.

“We don’t [in the West] have the conditions to impose anything. I doubt that after what happened in Afghanistan we will be able to propose anything, and undoubtedly Russia and China are now in a position of competitive advantage that they will exploit to the last consequences “, said Luis Amado.

The former chairman of the EDP General and Supervisory Board also emphasizes in this conversation with the columnists of Mao Visível Jorge Marrao and Joaquim Aguiar that “the maps we have for reference will not be useful for the future” and that we are faced with a new social order.

“If you ask me what the new order is? no one can answer, we have entered a period of great uncertainty”, argues the former minister. A conversation and a vision of the moment the world is going through, not to be missed.
