The next day, prayers will be held at the Evangelical Church in North Phoenix, and from the church the body will be transferred to the Arizona National Guard airbase at Phoenix airport to be flown to Washington.

In Washington, his body will be unveiled on Friday at the Capitol, a ceremony dedicated to dignitaries in US history such as Presidents John Kennedy, Ronald Reagan and Rosa Parks. The Americans will have the last glimpse of him for six hours.

The McCain national funeral will take place on Saturday at the National Cathedral in the federal capital, where the McCain family, friends, congressional colleagues and senior US and foreign dignitaries will participate, organizers said.

The New York Times reported that former Democratic President Barack Obama and George W. Bush will address Bush at his request. Several months ago, US media reported that he had clearly asked that President Donald Trump not attend his funeral.
