People were Killed and Injured During The Funeral of General Soleimani
Iranian television announced today, Tuesday, that 35 people were killed and 48 wounded in a stampede during the burial ceremony of General Qassem Soleimani in his hometown in Kerman city.
“A number of citizens who were taking part in the funeral were wounded and a number of people lost their lives,” the head of the Iranian National Emergency Service, Hussein Colliond, told state television.
According to correspondents, told Agence France-Presse that the city’s streets were crowded with mourners attending the funeral of the commander of the Quds Force in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Qassem Soleimani.
Soleimani, who was in charge of the Revolutionary Guards’ foreign operations abroad and the architect of the Iranian strategy in the Middle East, was killed in a US air strike that targeted him at dawn Friday near Baghdad International Airport, which shocked the Islamic Republic.
Soleimani’s burial ceremony on Tuesday in his hometown comes days after funerary marches roamed the streets of Ahvaz in southwestern Iran, the capital Tehran, the city of Qom and Mashhad in the northeast of the country.
