Incoming increases for postal services from Monday 24 July. The reason? Adjust cost for inflation. Below are the new rates that will soon come into effect

The cleaver of inflation affects every sphere of economic and social life. From next Monday, July 24, in fact, postal services will undergo increases; this is what Agcom established on 27 June with a resolution that expressed a favorable opinion on the increases in the prices of Poste Italiane services, both for citizens and for the business target of companies and public administrations.

The good news is that, according to the authorities, the increase should be rather moderate, without having a “significant” impact on consumers and businesses. Specifically, it is an increase of 6.75% but it is certainly not the first “adjustment” – the last one was in August 2022 – and given the current situation, it will most likely not be the last either.

Post, prices of services on the rise: here are the new rates

The substantial increase will concern shipping services, from the ordinary one to the shipment of parcels: the basic service – for sending ordinary mail in Italy – will go from 1.20 to 1.25 euros. For priority mail, however, the cost of the stamp will go from the current 2.80 to 2.90 euros.

Same fate for the registered letter which increases in every format and weight. For those up to 20 grams the price will go from 5.60 to 5.80 euros while the so-called “Pro” – for the same weight – from 3.70 to 3.97 euros.

Moving on to parcels, the ordinary shipment of a parcel from 0 to 3 kilograms will undergo an increase of no less than 50 cents, going from the current 9.40 to 9.90 euros. For those who have to ship abroad, the rates will increase for all destination areas. Zone 1, for example, undergoes an increase from 24 to 24.80 euros.

Lastly, starting from 24 July, the tariff of the accessory service on delivery for national universal shipments will also undergo an increase. The total rate with postal order will vary from 2.27 to 3.00 euros; the one with money orders will vary from 10.77 to 11.00.
