The New Beats Studio Pro are Better than AirPods Max But Cost Half

Apple’s “sister” headphones offer several more functions, here’s the comparison.

In the comparison between Beats Studio Pro and AirPods Max, the tradition is once again confirmed that often the worst rival of a tech device is at home. The new over-ear headphones of the Apple-owned brand can in fact offer a lot of quality and latest generation functions in the face of a more compact and lighter design and a more affordable price compared to the proposal that came out almost three years ago. What are the main differences between the two headphones?

Starting from the common functions, both headphones put customized spatial audio in the first place, i.e. the three-dimensional reproduction of sound for greater realism and immersion, a technology that fits perfectly with this type of enveloping device and which uses the accelerometer and gyroscope to understand the movements of the head. The active cancellation of background noise is now a must that isolates the listener from the surrounding environment, as known, it works thanks to the production of a sound that cancels the one to be canceled, thus generating silence; for safety reasons (for example when walking on the street) there is a transparent mode so as not to be completely isolated. Even the drivers are identical in size, 40mm, with Beats Studio Pro eliminating 80% of distortion compared to the previous model.

The subsequent technical characteristics elevate Beats Studio Pro by a couple of steps compared to the proposal released over two and a half years ago. In fact, the battery claims double autonomy (40 vs 20 hours), they are lighter (260 vs 384.8 grams) and can use the most recent version of bluetooth (5.3 vs 5.0). One of the biggest differences though is the wired connection interface, which is in fact USB Type-C instead of Lightning, supporting lossless audio content transmission while charging the battery at the same time. In addition, Beats Studio Pro also include a 3.5mm jack input, significantly expanding the range of compatible accessories. The picture is completed by the support of up to three sound profiles (against the single one of AirPods Max) and the possibility of pairing faster with a single touch. The materials are more precious for AirPods Max, since metal is preferred instead of plastic.
