Razer BlackShark V2 Pro Review: When Convenience Meets Professionalism

The Razer BlackShark V2 Pro are wireless gaming headphones that combine comfort, excellent audio quality, and passive noise isolation, all in an aesthetic and beautiful package that will allow you to immerse yourself deep in the game, without delays.
We previously reviewed the Razer Barracuda X headphones, the Horst budget budget headphones, and today we reviewed headphones from the family’s more advanced family, the BlackShark family, and will look at the Razer BlackShark V2 Pro, which are actually a version update of the first BlackShark, made Based on comments received by gamers, and Razer E-Sport teams.
It is clear to all of us that Razer does not really need to be introduced, as it is one of the most well-known and successful gaming companies in the global gaming market. The company prides itself on its connection to gamers “in the field”, noting that the same connection is its secret to creating products that hit the mark at the points that gamers want, or as the company slogan says – “By gamers – For gamers”.
From a first glance at the Razer BlackShark V2 Pro you can see that Razer did not spare upholstery. Both the bow and the ear pads are made of extra thick fabric, which contributes to a very comfortable sitting of the headphones both on the ears themselves, and in the touch of the bow on the head. What adds to the sense of comfort is the relatively low weight of the headphones – only 320 grams.
Beyond the comfort of the upholstery, what is interesting about it – especially in a hot country like Israel, is Razer’s decision to use a breathable memory fabric, so beyond the comfort issue of the pillows on the ear, even after a few hours of gaming with the headphones on, I did not find the fabric sweaty. And my feeling in my ears was very good.
In terms of build quality of the Razer BlackShark V2 Pro, I can say that the feel is superb. The headphones feel durable, and their massive appearance (again – the thickness of the fabric) also gives them a durable appearance. Like most gaming headphones on the market, I would recommend purchasing a hard case for the headphones (even though you will receive a cloth case in the box that the headphones fit in), but that does not mean that the headphones are fragile, and if you are firm on the head or neck – there is nothing to be afraid of.
In terms of headphone design there is not too much new and the Razer guideline is preserved here as well – completely black bow headphones, without any shiny RGB (surprising when familiar with Razer), with the company logo on the outside of the two ear pads (but no color), and a dial button Large for volume control.
In the left ear pad you will find all the connections and buttons of the headphones. At the back is the power button, followed by a Mute button for the microphone, then the charging connection (micro USB) and an indicator light, followed by a 3.5mm connection, and the microphone connection.
The volume is controlled by a large dial button that protrudes from the headphones, in contrast to the pulleys that are common in most headphones. For me? A big advantage.
Who moved my connection?
The Razer BlackShark V2 Pro are definitely not cross-platform headphones, as they lack Bluetooth capabilities so it is not possible to connect them to cell phones and unfortunately they can not be connected to the Xbox console (at least not wirelessly). What is possible is to connect them to your PC (or laptop, not a judge), to the SWITCH console, and of course to the PS4 and PS5.
The headphones come with a 2.4GHz wireless connection dongle that connects via a USB connection. It’s a bit longer than I expected to see, but overall it’s not noticeable when connected to a large PC, and it’s not terrible when connected to a laptop next to a dongle of advanced gaming mice. With the help of Razer’s HyperSpeed technology.
The headphones of course also allow wired connection with an AUX (or 3.5 mm cable) directly to any device that supports it (new or old), and you can find such a cable in the kit that comes with the headphones, 1.3 meters long, which will allow you to connect wired to the cell phone. Yours and / or the Xbox console.
Amazing sound from the first moment
The Razer BlackShark V2 Pro is marketed as a headphone with high sound quality – and they definitely do the job. The sound obtained from the headphones is precise and pleasant, and includes a particularly successful emphasis on the bass (but not too much), without compromising on the quality of the mid and high notes.
True, these are not audiophile headphones that will probably say they are good (but not beyond that), but headphones for gamers who want to raise one level in sound beyond most gaming headphones on the market – and this is definitely noticeable while gaming: every explosion and shooting sounds and feels good, enemy movement sounds Excellent and will make it difficult to surprise you, and the noise of the tank caterpillars will betray the direction of the enemy.
Beyond the “normal” sound experience in gaming, the Razer BlackShark V2 Pro provides a successful experience even in feeding music and watching movies. Their sound is simply superb, whether you’re watching Spider-man or hearing Blur’s Song 2.
Part of the reason for this is the Razor TRIFORCE technology which is integrated into the drivers in each headset, allowing control of each of the sounds (bass, mid, treble) individually, thus allowing the headphones to display the same accurate and clean sound I was talking about.
Looking at the issue of insulation, it can be said that the Razer BlackShark V2 Pro provides a relatively good, but not perfect result. They come with only passive insulation, and in fact so that the ear pads are airy (Breathable – for summer comfort) so there is definitely an penetration of an external sound in, and an external sound coming out. So true, the result is much more successful than budget headphones or “regular” headphones, but it still can’t be compared to active noise isolation like the Jabra Elite 7 Pro.
The Razer BlackShark V2 Pro also allows for a 3D audio experience and compatibility with the PS5’s 3D audio, or 7.1 sound through dedicated software on your PC (and thanks THX), which gives a great sound experience and provides an increased sense of immersion in your games, Same identification of firing direction and tank caterpillar movement we talked about earlier.
In terms of microphone, the Razer BlackShark V2 Pro also comes with a detachable microphone. True, it is not as comfortable as the removable microphones available in more expensive models, but the detachable microphone allows great flexibility for the time you want to play and also talk, and the time when you just want to listen to music, or even some gaming without speaking.
The microphone itself is a super cardoid microphone, that is – it picks up sound only from the direction of speech, and repels noises that come from because it is not the direction of speech. The microphone itself is excellent, and provides a particularly successful sound quality so you do not have to worry about not hearing or not understanding you. In addition, you can log in to the Razor Synapse software, and adjust the EQ of the microphone according to your requirements.
Wireless and portable, but not very compact
In terms of battery life, Razer claims up to 24 hours of operation on a single charge, but I can say that only after using for a whole week (a few hours every day) did I get to the point where the battery ran out in the headphones and needed to be charged. Either way – these are headphones that if you remember to charge them once every two or three days, you should not get into a situation where you run out of battery.
Charging the headphones takes several hours through their Micro-USB connection, which is a reminder that the headphones are no longer young on the market, and by the end of 2020 USB-C charging was still not standard. You can know the battery status through the Synapse software, or with the help of the LED bulb at the bottom of the left ear pad (when the bulb is on continuously – the headphones are charged with Mel.
