SpaceX’s Starlink: First Echoes on Speeds with Beta 9 Reviews

First tests for speeds with Starlink have appeared. The 60 Mbps seem to have been reached. The latency time is quite fluctuating.

For its ambitious Starlink constellation and high-speed Internet from space, SpaceX has already launched nearly 600 minisatellites with a mass of 260 kg, which will mostly operate for the moment from low Earth orbit at an altitude of 550 km. ..

The service is going to be the subject of a beta. Users on Reddit have spotted on the Ookla site, which provides a Speedtest connection speed test, a handful of results for Starlink with servers primarily in Los Angeles.

At PCMag, Ookla reported that the tests appear legitimate. A compilation of the data shows a downstream rate ranging from 11 Mbps to 60 Mbps, and an upstream rate ranging from 4.5 Mbps to 18 Mbps. The latency times are between 20 ms and 94 ms.
