What are the British Fashion Awards?
The British Fashion Awards are prizes that are awarded each year to all those who have excelled in the field of fashion in Britain. The ceremony was held for a period during London fashion week, while now it is organized in a different period of the year.
The prizes are awarded by the British Fashion Council, a non-profit organization that has been working since 1983 to promote the growth of British fashion in the global fashion industry.
Among the most prestigious categories are the awards for the best stylist, the best model and the best collections.
Among the other prizes, minor for prestige but not for the curiosity aroused by the fans of the sector, even the awards for the most fashionable celebrities.
Fashion Award to Giorgio Armani
Called King George for his habit of not bowing to trends nor the passage of time, during his long and prestigious career Giorgio Armani distinguished himself from any other stylist by being always one step ahead of the others but on a completely autonomous path.
Precisely because of the originality of his creations and the creative coherence with which Armani has carried out his company’s mission, the British Fashion Council has decided to give him the award for the best stylist of the year.
Julia Roberts and the ethereal Cate Blanchett, both very loyal customers of the designer, put the prize of her career in the hands of King George.
The motivation was as follows:
“Renowned for his vision of a timeless style and the ability of his brands to maintain their relevance.
Mr. Armani was able to indicate the path that other brands have followed ”
On the occasion of the British Fashion Awards, Giorgio Armani presented his autumn-winter 2019/20 private collection and, to the surprise and delight of the guests, the event ended with a performance by Eric Clapton.
To pay tribute to the designer also many Hollywood stars among whom Richard Gere could not miss, for whom Armani designed the clothes for American Gigolò. With Gere also Lauren Hutton (who was a co-star of American Gigolò) and Julia Roberts, as well as Clate Blanchett and Tom Cruise.
Among those who walked the red carpet instead of Rita Ora, Rihanna, Chiara Ferragni and Naomi Campbell. The latter was the protagonist of an extremely moving moment: awarded the Fashion Icon award and being the first black woman to receive this award in the history of the British Awards, Naomi Campbell burst into tears when she received the award and publicly thanked his mother for the education with which he raised her.
